Laughter is a universal language and a natural stress reliever. Socially, it is essential for human beings: it's what connects us. Laughing activates mirror neurons in our brains. Those make us reflect on human behaviour. That's why laughter is contagious the same way yawning is.
Then, our brain will associate this positive feeling with the person we laughed with, and we will want to see them again.
TED is the trigger and embodiment of this bond.

Each person grabs one end. The pressure will trigger a burst of laughter from the device itself. It is supposed to make the two people laugh, maybe start a conversation and finally, create a bond between them.
